Tonight’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners Meeting Moved to Government Building
The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet tonight at 6 p.m. for a regularly scheduled meeting.
With elections being held at the Historic Courthouse, the meeting will take place in the Grand Jury Room at the Stephens County Government Building, 70 N. Alexander Street in Toccoa. Due to the change in location, WNEG News will not be able to provide a livestream of tonight’s meeting.
The meeting will begin with six land use-related public hearings, and subsequent commission action regarding the requests addressed in the public hearings.
The six zoning-related issues are:
Approval of a new personal wireless service facility for property located on Rock Creek Road.
Approval of Rezoning Requests for two parcels on N. Broad River Road for rezoning from agricultural intensive and residential single, to residential multi, to allow for property combination and for use as a travel trailer park.
Approval of a Rezoning Request for a parcel of land on W. Leatherwood Road from agricultural intensive to agriculture single to allow for the creation of single family homes onsite.
Approval of a Rezoning Request for a parcel of property on Highway 17 Alternate from commercial community to commercial general to conform with the current use of the property.
And Approval of a Rezoning Request for a parcel of property on Highway 145 from residential single to agricultural residential to allow for property combination.
Additional items on the agenda include approval of a Land Use Application fee schedule, approval of a contract with Pyro Shows, Inc for July fireworks, and consideration of changes to the county employment handbook to update vacation leave accruals.

The meeting is open to the public, and citizens have an opportunity to address commissioners during the public comment portion of the meeting.
