This past weekend was the inaugural Alzheimer’s Awareness 5k, held in Downtown Toccoa. Organizer, Christy Coakley, told WNEG News that the event raised $22,000, surpassing her original $300 goal. An employee at the Habersham County Detention Center has been charged with smuggling illegal narcotics into the detention center for two inmates.
