WWII Heritage Lineage Day this weekend at Toccoa Airport

The Toccoa Airport is hosting the WWII Heritage Lineage Days this weekend on Saturday.

According to organizer Keith Hornick, the event on Saturday, July 8, will start at 2:00 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. and takes place at the LeTourneau Hanger.

He says, “come celebrate the patriotic early history of Toccoa’s aviation history as it relates to our 1940s Paratrooper era and beyond. Join us for an honor ceremony for our Veterans, Paratroopers, and Law and EMS services.”

The event will give attendees and opportunity to learn about paratroop jumping from seasoned professionals, the history of Toccoa, and it’s impact in the world during the WWII era.

Hornick says you’ll also have an opportunity to tour a C-47 wartime aircraft and end the evening with a 1940s style hanger dance.

WWII Veteran, Corporal Lloyd Harvey of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment and 101st Airborne Division will be in attendance.

Additionally, reenactors and paratroopers will be onsite during the event.

The Hanger Dance is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. with David Fry’s Jazz Ensemble providing the music.

Again, the WWII Heritage Lineage Day is this weekend on Saturday, July 8, from 2 to 8:30 p.m. at the LeTourneau Hanger.
