Wrestling Season Gearing Up At SCHS

Wrestling season is getting underway at Stephens County High School.

The Indian grapplers have a new coach, Rob Stowe.

He said the team should be able to fill all of the weight classes for matches heading into the season.

Stowe said the team shows a lot of promise.

“Coaching at Rabun County, we wrestled a lot with Stephens and they have a good start here,” said Stowe. “I could see Stephens can be really, really good.”

“If we will set the bar a little higher, I think we can do great things,” he added.

The Indians will, of course, be competing in Region 8-AAAA for wrestling as they are in all sports.

Stowe said the region poses quite a challenge.

At the top of that list is Buford, along with Madison County, North Hall, and White County.

The Stephens County High School wrestling schedule picks up in early December and wrestling season runs through February.
