Wreck on Hwy. 441 at Hollywood Hills Road Claims Motorcyclist’s Life

Yesterday morning, March 18, a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a Jeep Wrangler resulted in the death of the motorcyclist on US Highway 441 at Hollywood Hills Road. 

Habersham County E-911 received the call reporting the wreck just before 10:30 a.m.

Habersham County Emergency Services Engine 9, Med 9, Engine 14, Captain 1 and Battalion 1, along with multiple units from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the preliminary report from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Toccoa, Donald Lewis Miller, 70, of Moorseville, North Carolina, was operating a BMW 1250 GS motorcycle, traveling east on Hollywood Hills Road and was approaching US Hwy. 441 at approximately 10:30, and attempted to cross both lanes of US Hwy. 441 without yielding right-of-way to highway traffic.

Wyatt Andrew Turner, 23, of Mount Airy was driving south on US Highway 441 in a 2006 Jeep Wrangler, and the front of the Jeep struck the BMW Motorcycle on the right side as Lewis attempted to cross the highway. 

GSP reports that Miller was unresponsive on scene, where CPR was administered, and he was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The GSP report notes that Miller was wearing required safety equipment at the time of the incident, and noted that no charges had been filed against Turner. 

GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team Troop B was notified of the incident, but did not respond, according to the GSP report.
