Woman jumps from moving ambulance in Toccoa

The Toccoa Police Department recently responded to the area of East Tugalo Street and Short Street for an agency assist with the Stephens County EMS.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize says the incident occurred on February 5.

Mize says during transport Amber Michelle Chambers, 40, of Toccoa had jumped out of the moving vehicle and was laying in the street when officers arrived.

Police Officers directed traffic while EMS placed Chambers back into the ambulance.

EMS advised they wanted the Georgia State Patrol to work the incident due to the fact that it was a county vehicle.

The incident was turned over to the GSP and EMS.

According to GSP, Chambers was flown to a Gainesville hospital where she is listed in intensive care.

No further action was taken.
