Woman Arrested After Asking to Smoke Pot

A Toccoa woman is facing drug charges after a bizarre incident at a local business.

It happened Friday at Toccoa Glass Company on Big A Road.

“Company employees called 911 about a suspicious woman in the store,” explained Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize. “When he arrived, employees told Officer Justin Parten the woman had asked them if she could smoke a joint behind their building.”

Mize said Officer Parten located the woman outside below the store and while speaking with her, requested Toccoa Police officer Sally Moore to pat her down.

Officer Moore discovered the woman was hiding what is believed to have been a quantity of methamphetamine on her person.

Police arrested 34-year old Gina Wells of Toccoa.

Wells is charged with possession of a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance and was taken to the Stephens County Jail.

Mize said the drugs were secured and sent to the GBI Crime Lab for testing.
