WNEG’s own Charles Head was honored by the Georgia State Legislature at the state capitol on Charles Head day Wednesday. Head was honored for his half-century broadcasting, race announcing, and writing career.

A resolution
Recognizing and commending the accomplishments of Charles Head: and for other
Purposes.
WHEREAS, as broadcaster since 1970, Charles Head has hosted racing shows on WNEG,
WLET-FM, WZLI, WMOQ, WCON, and WLHR as well as TV-32, the CBS affiliate in
northeast Georgia; and
WHEREAS, during his 14 years as a NASCAR Cup Series announcer, he has announced
at numerous racing events, including Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motorsports Park,
Lanier National Speedway, Anderson (SC) Motor Speedway, Toccoa Raceway, Hartwell
Speedway, Lavonia Speedway, and more; and
WHEREAS, Charles Head has further worked as a series announcer for Georgia Asphalt
Series, American Challenge Series, PARTS Pro Truck Series, Fastrack Pro Late Model
Series, Monster Mini Stock Association and 602 Thunder Series, as well as writer for
Short Track Magazine, Pioneer Pages and more; and
WHEREAS, he possess the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the
strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
And
WHEREAS, Charles Head is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable
reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness and kindness; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of
this extraordinary individual be appropriately commended and recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
that the members of this body commend and recognize Charles Head for his many
remarkable accomplishments during his over 50 years in broadcasting radio and television
and extend best wishes for the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is
authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for
distribution to Charles Head.
