Win Means Region Champ Title in Indians Game Tonight Against Oconee
The Stephens County Indians will host the Oconee County Warriors tonight in high school football. Kickoff will be at 7:30 at the Reservation.
The Indians come into tonight’s game undefeated with an overall record of 8 & 0 and in first place in Region 8-AAA with a region record of 3 & 0.
Stephens County shutout Hart County last Friday night on the road, 35 to 0.
Oconee County enters tonight’s game with a 3 & 5 overall record and tied for second place in the region after their win last Friday over Monroe Area, 14 to 0.
Last year, the Indians won a close game at Oconee County, 28 to 27.
If the Indians win tonight, they will be Region Champs for the 2nd consecutive year.
Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s Defensive Coordinator, Thomas Flowers, said that is not the focus tonight.
Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts tonight with the Indian Tailgate Show live from the Reservation at 5:30, followed by Coach’s Corner at 7 and pre-game at 7:15.
In the other Region 8-AAA games tonight, Franklin County will host Monroe Area and Hart County will host Hebron Christian.
Looking elsewhere around the area this evening, Habersham Central will travel to Apalachee, Banks County will host Fellowship Christian, East Jackson will host Providence Christian, Rabun County will play at Commerce, White County will host Pickens County, Madison County will be on the road to Walnut Grove, and East Hall will face North Oconee.
In Junior Varsity football action last night, Hart County defeated Stephens County at the Reservation, 32 to 0.
