“When We Last Spoke” to Premiere in Toccoa April 11

Plans are in the works to roll out the red carpet for a special movie premiere next month.

This week, ReelWorks Studios in Charlotte, North Carolina announced they plan to hold the premiere of the film, “When We Last Spoke,” April 11th at the Ritz Theatre.

The movie was shot in and around Toccoa last summer and stars Melissa Gilbert, Cloris Leachman, and Corbin Bernson, but many locals also got to be in the film as extras and stand-ins.

Since then, ReelWorks has kept everyone updated on the production of the film via their Facebook page.

Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber Director Julie Paysen says there will be two showings of the film that night along with a special appearance by cast and crew members who will also speak to the audience about the film.

“On Thursday night April 11 will be the first showing of five showings,” she said Wednesday. “Not everyone will be able to fit into the theatre for the first showing at the Ritz, which holds 360. So, they were willing to have a Q&A with the cast and crew in between two showings. So, that really gives two groups an opportunity to hear from those who produced the film and who wrote the story.”

Paysen said she does not yet know which cast members will be here in person for the premiere.

But wait! There’s more.

Paysen said if you can’t make the April 11 premiere there will also be a showing at 3p the following Saturday and a 3p and 6p showing on Sunday, but you need to get your tickets as soon as possible because she expects them to sell out quickly.

“I would definitely recommend that you get tickets and not wait to get them at the door,” Paysen said. “As we know from the showing of “Heritage Falls” all four showings sold out. So, I would encourage everyone to come on down and get your tickets. If you’re from out of town you can call us and pay for your tickets over the phone and we’ll hold them for you at will call, but you definitely need to purchase them beforehand because there’s going to be a huge demand.”

Paysen said the producers of the movie also plan to give back to Toccoa-Stephens County as a way of thanking the community for their help and support during the filming last year.

She said ReelWorks plans to donate to the Hope Center in Toccoa.

Again, the premiere of “When We Last Spoke” takes place Thursday evening, April 11 with additional showings the following Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are available at the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber office.
