Westminster SC: Woman’s Body Retrieved From Lake Hartwell

As reported by Kevin D. Hollis at WNEG Sister Station WSNW in Seneca, South Carolina, an autopsy was performed Friday, Feb. 16, on the body of India L. Medlin, 64, of Westminster, who was found dead inside her vehicle in Lake Hartwell on the morning of Feb. 15.  Her vehicle, a 2014 Hyundai Sonata sedan, was discovered submerged in 7 to 7.5 feet of water at approximately 10:45 a.m. by a fisherman from Georgia.  Her pet dog, “Taz” was also discovered dead.

According to autopsy findings reported by Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis, contributing factors in Medlin’s death included hypoglycemia due to insulin dependent diabetes. Her manner of death is classified Accidental.

Medlin lived on Dr. John’s Road, which terminates at Lake Hartwell, and it was at the end of Dr. John’s Road where Medlin’s vehicle was found in the waters of Lake Hartwell, approximately 75 yards from the shoreline.

Addis stated, “It appeared the driver of the vehicle drove down a pathway leading to the lake; there was no damage to the vehicle.”
