Weekend Shooting Leaves Two Dead in Clarkesville

Clarkesville Police are asking for the public’s in connection with a double fatal shooting over the weekend.

Clarkesville Police Chief Brad Barrett tells Access WDUN, it happened Saturday evening at a home on Davis Place Drive in Clarkesville.

Emergency personnel were called to the home about 8:49p Saturday night and located both victims dead in the yard.

Barrett said the victims, identified as 54-year old Carol Ann Brown and James Robert Goeslin, age unknown, may have gotten into some sort of domestic dispute that led to the shootings.

Forensic agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were called to process the scene, according to the Chief.

Brown was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Goeslin also suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Clarkesville investigators obtained a search warrant for the premises and a .40-caliber handgun was located and taken into evidence.

Chief Barrett said the GBI, Clarkesville Police investigators and the Habersham County Coroner’s office continue to investigate.

Both bodies were taken to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.
