Weekend drug bust results in two arrest
Two people are behind bars in Habersham County after a routine traffic stop led to their arrest.
It happened Saturday, according to Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
Posey tells WNEG News, deputies with the Habersham County Sheriff’s office pulled a vehicle over on Highway 15 North near the Toccoa Highway for a window tint violation and busted tail light.
During the traffic stop, deputies discovered a cache of drugs inside the vehicle, including heroin, marijuana, mushrooms, MDMA, THC wax, and THC edible.
Agents with the ARDEO were called in to assist.
Street value of the illegal narcotics, Posey said, is around $3,420.
Deputies also seized $1,269 in cash.
Arrested were 46-year old Michael Christopher Kote of Longmont, Colorado and 23-year old Sylvia Marie Hoss of Trilby, Florida.
Both were charged with trafficking heroin, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, possession with intent to distribute THC wax and edible.
They were taken to the Habersham County Detention Center.
