Wednesday Sports Update

The Stephens County Middle school baseball team has their first home game today,  Feb. 14, when they take on Lumpkin County at 5:30 p.m.

The Stephens County High School wrestling team will send 4 wrestlers to the state tournament at the Macon Coliseum beginning Thursday.  The girls sectionals were held at Habersham Central last weekend, where Emily Harper finished 2nd and Siena Malek finished 5th.  

At the boys sectionals held at Lumpkin County, Soloman Dupree had a 2nd place finish, and Tucker Kinsey placed 5th.  Wrestlers had to place 1st-6th to advance to the state tournament.

 

In High School Tennis, The SCHS tennis teams split with Rabun County Tuesday afternoon.  The Lady Indians won 2 of 3 singles matches and swept both doubles to defeat the Wildcats by a match score of 4-1. This non-region win extends  the Lady Indians unbeaten record to 5-0.

The Indians lost by a match score of 1-4.  The only win came at number one doubles.  With this loss, the Indians have a 3-2 record.

Next match is Thursday, Feb. 15 at home vs. Hart County.

 

And a reminder, The Indians boys basketball team will play in the region semi-final tonight night when they face the top seed Hebron Christian at Currahee Arena at 8 p.m. Airtime on WNEG Radio and wnegradio.com will be 7:45 p.m.
