Voting machine demonstrations continue through Friday

The Stephens County Registrar’s Office has been holding demonstrations for citizens to test out the new voting machines prior to the Presidential Preference Primary.

Friday, February 28, will conclude the week-long, demonstration period.

Stephens County Deputy Registrar April Roberts is reminding residents that demonstrations will be held today and Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., also, additional demonstrations will be held this evening only, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The Presidential Preference Primary in March will be the first election that the Registrar’s Office will use the new voting machines, after a federal judge ordered the state of Georgia to stop using paperless, touchscreen voting machines in 2019.

The Presidential Preference Primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at the Senior Center, located on Roselane.

Early voting begins Monday, March 2, and will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. until Friday, March 20, at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office.

Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober says anyone who would like to vote by absentee ballot still has time to request an application for one.
