Volunteers needed to help with Thanksgiving preparations, meal distribution

The push is on for volunteers to help pack Thanksgiving dinner plates for those who need them as well as pack supplies and food for the mission field.

The ministry, Love Him Love Them is holding a volunteer orientation on November 23, in the evening at the Boyd Outz Center in Lavonia, according to ministry founder Linda Gunter.

Last year, hundreds of volunteers helped serve and deliver over 2,000 people in Franklin, Hart, and Stephens Counties with meals for the Thanksgiving holiday.

This year, Gunter says they expect to feed some 3,000 people in Franklin, Hart, and Stephens Counties.

“We’re also expanding and delivering meals to Gwinnett County and a homeless shelter in Fayetteville. And we will also be delivering meals to local jails,” she said.

Then on Saturday, volunteers are needed to help pack 20,000 meals going to those in need in Haiti.

Again, the orientation meeting for anyone interested in volunteering to pack and/or deliver meals is Tuesday, Nov 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boyd Outz Learning Center in Lavonia.
