Volunteers needed for Stephens County Historical Society

A local organization is looking for a few good men and women.

Stephens County Historical Society is seeking volunteers to help with the museum, events, committees, and Camp Toccoa at Currahee.

According to Currahee Military Museum Executive Director Brenda Carlin, a meeting has been scheduled for November 7, for anyone interested in serving as a volunteer.

The  meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the Mitchell Allen Memorial Hall at the museum.

The Historical Society is a nonprofit organization and depends on volunteers to operate the museum seven days a week.

Camp Toccoa at Currahee is currently open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and the Camp Toccoa at Currahee board would like to expand the hours of operation for the camp; however, without additional volunteers the hours will not be expanded.

Carlin says volunteers can work as few as three hours a month.

For anyone unable to attend the November 7th meeting, please call 706-282-5055.

Depending on interest another meeting will be scheduled with a later start time.

For questions regarding volunteering or to submit an RSVP to the November 7th meeting contact Carlin at 706-282-5055 or email her at [email protected].
