Victim injured in Friday’s Shooting identified

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office has released details regarding a shooting that occurred Friday morning in Stephens County.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on October 22, at 1:00 a.m. Stephens County 911 Dispatch contacted the sheriff’s office in regards to someone being shot on Yearwood Street.

Shirley says the victim, 42-year-old Waylon James Lee, was sleeping when an unknown person shot him several times through the window of his camper, located at 557 Yearwood Street.

After paramedics stabilized Lee, he was flown to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Shirley says Lee is expected to make a full recovery.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations was called to assist in the investigation.

GBI along with Stephens County Investigators worked through the night processing the scene.

Shirley says no other information can be released at this time.
