Victim in Friday Fatal Crash Identified, GSP Says Charges Pending

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate a fatal wreck Friday morning that took the life of an 18-year old Carnesville woman.

It happened about 9a Friday morning at the intersection of Georgia Highways 106 and 320 near the Franklin/Stephens County line.

GSP, EMS, and Sheriff’s deputies from both counties responded.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Toccoa Post, a Chevy Silverado driven by 40-year old Amanda Phillips of Toccoa crossed the center line of Highway 106 and struck a Ford Fiesta driven by 18-year old Anna Whitlock of Carnesville head-on.

Stephens County Coroner Chris Stephens said Whitlock died at the scene.

Phillips was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital.  A two-month old baby in the vehicle with Phillips was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

The conditions of Phillips and the baby are not known.

WNEG News has learned Whitlock is the daughter of Joey and Leigh Whitlock.  Joey Whitlock is the pastor of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church in Toccoa.

GSP says charges are pending.
