Veterans’ Parade slated for Oct. 5

Preparations are underway for this year’s annual Currahee Military Weekend.

The annual event began in 2001 as a way to honor World War II veterans from the 506th who trained at Camp Toccoa, the weekend has grown each year with thousands attending from all over the country.

This year the festivities will run from October 5th through the 8th and will be filled with lots of events for history buffs and veterans to enjoy. One of which is the Veteran Parade.

Bob Magee is the Parade Coordinator. He says he’s excited for the community to see what they have planned.

Magee says the parade is open to any organization that would like to participate.

The Veterans Parade is slated for Saturday, October 5 at 1 p.m.

Magee adds that this year, a group of troopers from Fort Campbell will be part of the parade.
