Veterans coffee features Shipley
The speaker for the monthly Veterans Coffee has been announced as Vietnam veteran, George Shipley.
Shipley, of the Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class, will be talking about the Navy’s Field Medical Corps, MOS 8404, which is specific to the United States Marine Corps Fleet Marine Force Service.
He will share his thoughts on what he felt his unique experience did for him in providing positive building blocks for continuing with military and civilian vocation.
After his initial service, he went on to complete 23 years in law enforcement, 11 years in the US Army Special Forces and 5 years in the US Army Counterintelligence with the National Guard and retired as a Company First Sergeant.
He was privileged to be a charter member of the American Contingent in the United Nations International Police Task Force, known as IPTF, with a 1-year tour in Bosnia.
The coffee will be held at the Mitchell Allen Memorial Hall of the Currahee Military Museum on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
The doors open at 8:15 a.m. for coffee and light breakfast snacks, and Shipley will begin his presentation at 9 a.m.
All Veterans are invited and encouraged to attend.
