UPDATE: TPD releases details and identities of 4 adults who overdosed last week at Toccoa Hotel

The Toccoa Police Department has released additional information regarding the incident involving four adults who overdosed at a Toccoa Hotel, last week in Stephens County.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on May 19, officers entered a room at Quality Inn for a welfare check, where they located four unconscious adults in the room.

Mize also says officers located a two-year-old juvenile sitting on one of the beds.

The child, according to Mize, was removed from the scene and placed with DFCS and later reunited with family.

The victims involved in the overdose case have been identified as 32-year-old Toccoa resident Catherine Patterson, 38-year-old Toccoa resident Harold Curry, 37-year-old Rutledge resident William Parker, and 37-year-old Clarkesville resident Amanda Adams.

Mize says Toccoa Fire, EMS, and First Responders were quick to administer NARCAN to the victims and transport them to Stephens County Hospital.

Three of the victims were hospitalized, while one succumbed to the overdose.

Adams was pronounced dead at Stephens County Hospital shortly after arrival.

Mize tells WNEG News that due to the nature of the overdoses, all evidence is being processed by the GBI Crime Lab along with the autopsy being completed at the Medical Examiners Office.

The case has been under investigation by the GBI and the ARDEO Task Force.

During the investigation several suspects were interviewed, and evidence gathered.

Additionally, Mize says on Tuesday, May 26, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office along with the ARDEO Task Force and an Investigator with the Toccoa Police Department executed a search warrant for a residence on Defoor Road, in Eastanollee, where Charles Mayfield was arrested in connection with the sale of the drugs leading to the overdoses and death of Amanda Adams.

While executing the warrant in Eastanollee, a number of drugs and firearms were located at the residence.

Mize adds that the ARDEO Task Force and GBI will continue to investigate the case.
