Unnamed city employee under GBI investigation for theft

The City of Toccoa is cooperating with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation during a GBI investigation into an employee on theft charges.

According to a press release issued by Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse at approximately 4:30 p.m. today, Aug. 11, the theft did not involve city finances, but rather those of a private citizen.

The theft resulted in the arrest of the city employee, who was not named.

According to Morse, the employee was immediately suspended, subject to further investigation.

“It would be inappropriate for the City to comment further at this time,” Morse stated. “The GBI intends to prepare a press release addressing the matter.”

WNEG will report further on this matter as more information becomes available.
