Unemployment Rate Locally Unchanged

The unemployment rate for the Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Stephens, Franklin, and Hart Counties, remained unchanged in October at 1.8%.

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler says 9 out of the 12 regional commissions in the state recorded a decrease in unemployment rates.

Butler said his office is continuing to see all-time low unemployment rates across the state along with job growth in all of statistical areas.

He said the focus now is getting more Georgians into the workforce to fill critical positions, particularly as the State gears up for a strong holiday employment season.

In the Georgia Mountains regions, the labor force was up 1,951 to 360,796.

Additionally, the number of employed was up 1,891 to just over 354-thousand.

In the Georgia Mountains Region, there were 4,241 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.com.
