Unemployment Down in Nov. in Stephens Co.

The unemployment rate goes down in November in Stephens County.

According to figures released last week by the Labor Department, Stephens County had a preliminary November unemployment rate of 6.2 percent.

That is three-tenths of a percentage point lower than the revised October rate of 6.5 percent and six-tenths of a percentage point lower than the revised November 2013 rate of 6.8 percent.

Stephens County had a total labor force in November of 12,925.

That is down from October’s labor force of 13,030, but higher than last November’s labor force of 12,775.

Of the total Stephens County labor force, 12,121 were employed in November.

That is less than October’s number of 12,180 employed, but higher than the number of employed last November, which was 11,901.

Looking elsewhere around the area, Franklin County’s preliminary November unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a percentage point to 7.2 percent; Habersham County’s preliminary unemployment rate went down four-tenths of a percentage point in November to 6 percent; and Banks County saw a four-tenth of a percentage point drop in its preliminary November unemployment rate to 5 percent.
