Ty Cobb Museum announced Sunday that artist Ken Woodall’s “Ty Cobb Statue Unveiling” will be on display in the museum.

The original folk art depicts the unveiling of the Ty Cobb statue in Royston on May 21, 2017.

The statue, originally at Turner Field in Atlanta, was gifted to the City of Royston. Royston is Cobb’s hometown.

Woodall included a number of locals in the painting, including Royston Mayor David Jordan, Ty Cobb Museum Executive Director Wesley Fricks, Charles Leershen, author of ‘Ty Cobb, A Terrible Beauty,’ and grandchildren of Ty Cobb.

Ken Woodall grew up in Cornelia and remembers his baseball hero, Ty Cobb.

Paintings by Woodall are in the Office of Membership at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, and have been included in art shows for Salmagundi Art Club in New York City.
