Two Stephens County High School seniors held athletic signing ceremonies last week.

Grady Sanders, son of Rachel and Clint Sanders, signed Wednesday with Piedmont University in Demorest for cross country and cycling.

While at Stephens County High School, Grady participated in cross country, wrestling, and was a distant runner for the track team.

Grady says the cycling program attracted him first to Piedmont.I

“I’ve been cycling since Freshmen year of high school. I started cycling with a Piedmont team that races and eventually went to a race with them. I really felt at home with the team. That’s what really started it. Then when I was considering colleges, they offered me a good scholarship that was a good financial option,” he said.

Grady plans to major in biology with a minor in business.

Navy Ott, son of Dana and Peter Ott, signed Friday to play soccer at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland.

Navy was a member of the Indian varsity soccer team for four years and led the team in scoring the past two seasons.

Navy says he has been looking at Truett McConnell even before he got the offer to play soccer there.
“I had talked to Coach Alex over there, I recently had communicated with him when he was at Piedmont College, so he just moved to Truett McConnell and it was a college that I had been looking at for a while. I went to a camp in Atlanta and I saw him once again there, and we shook hands and figured it would be a great match. I did look at other schools, but I did ultimately choose Truett. I look forward to going over there,” he said.

Navy plans to major in pre-law with a minor in Spanish.
