Two Dead, Three Seriously Injured in Sunday Hart County Wreck

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post say charges are pending after an accident Sunday in Hart County that left two people dead.

It happened early Sunday morning around 6a at the intersection of Georgia Highway 59 and Georgia 77  near the Gateway 2 Industrial Park in Lavonia and involved a Jeep Liberty and a Tour Bus.

According to troopers with the GSP Hartwell Post, the Jeep Liberty contained four occupants, ages 54, 18, 14, and 11, and the tour bus only contained the 76-year old driver.

The incident report states the driver of the Jeep Liberty failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by the tour bus.

The driver of the bus, identified as James Patrick of Pendleton, SC, died as a result of his injuries. An 18-year old female passenger in the Jeep, identified as Morgan Wilson also died as a result of her injuries.

The three other passengers were all seriously injured, according to the incident report, and transported to local hospitals, but there is no word on the extent of their injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT)  is continuing their investigation.
