Two Charged With Drug Possession in Separate Incidents

Two people are behind bars in Stephens County facing drug charges in two separate incidents.

According to the Stephens County Sheriff’s office, the first arrest came early Sunday morning after deputies responded to a complaint of an ATV running up and down Country Club Trail in the Shorewood subdivision.

When deputies arrived, they spotted a yellow ATV travelling at a high rate of speed on the road without working lights.

The deputy activated his emergency blue lights and pulled the driver of the ATV over.

When the deputy conducted a pat down of the driver, identified as 35-year old William Waddell of Eastanollee, he found Waddell allegedly had a quantity of methamphetamine on his person.

Waddell was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Operating a ATV on a public road, not wearing a helmet, and failure to maintain lane.

He is currently incarcerated in Stephens County Jail with a $7,500 bond.

In another incident later Sunday evening, Deputies responded to 3000 block of Hwy 123 in reference to an individual shooting firearms.

It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that Roger Jackson was a convicted felon and being so should not possess a firearm.

Deputies were able to locate Jackson who was irate and upset that deputies were at his residence.

Deputies asked Jackson about owning a firearm, which he denied having.

Jackson agreed to allow deputies to search his residence and told them they would only find his marijuana.

Sheriff Randy Shirley said that after gaining consent to search the residence deputies did find Jackson’s marijuana as well as quantity of methamphetamine.

However, deputies did not find any firearms on the premises.

57-year old Roger Jackson of Toccoa was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

Jackson is currently incarcerated in Stephens County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
