Two arrested for drug charges on Land Drive

Pictured is the evidence retrieved from a residence on Land Drive that resulted in the arrests of two individuals.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office recently reported the arrest of two individuals at a residence on Land Drive, in Toccoa.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office went to 10 Land Drive to follow up on a reported burglary that allegedly occurred at the same address on a previous date.

When investigators arrived at the home, they met with Aaron Griner, 20, the homeowner who had previously reported the burglary.

While speaking with Griner on the front deck, investigators reported they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence; therefore, the investigators asked if there was any marijuana located in the house.

Griner freely admitted that there was in fact marijuana inside his residence, and then gave investigators consent to search inside the home.

During the search, investigators recovered a large amount of marijuana inside a back pack.

The marijuana had been prepackaged and bagged for sale.

Investigators also recovered approximately $3,000 in us currency, multiple digital scales, along with additional packaging materials, and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun.

All items were seized and taken as evidence.

Two individuals at the residence were ultimately arrested; Griner, and Matthew Simmon Pope, 17, of Toccoa.

The pair were charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to Distribute, and Possession of Firearm during the Commission of Certain Felonies.

Both Griner and Pope posted a $25,000 bond.
