Two arrested following chase in Stephens County

Several local law enforcement agencies worked together to take down two suspects following a vehicle chase.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley on Tuesday, October 6, deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence off of Hwy 184 in Stephens County to assist the Georgia State Patrol on a follow up.

Shirley says deputies were advised that 30 minutes before they were contacted that officers with the Toccoa Police Department had been involved in a motor vehicle pursuit with a blue Ford sedan.

During the pursuit, Toccoa Officers lost contact with the vehicle and called off the pursuit in the area of Rock Quarry Road and West Currahee Street; however, a short time later, a GSP Trooper witnessed the vehicle recklessly turn left onto Homer Road and attempted to reinitiate the pursuit, but almost immediately lost contact with the vehicle.

Shirley says it was while checking area residences that another Trooper discovered the car parked behind 131 Homer Road.

At this time, the state patrol surrounded the residence and attempted to make contact with the driver.

Deputies were advised that the driver of the vehicle had been identified by unknown means as 41-year-old Jamecus Hodges, of Minneapolis.

It was also revealed that Hodges was wanted by the FBI in Minneapolis and had active federal warrants for his arrest out of the state of Minnesota, as well as the FBI in North Dakota.

Deputies and Troopers knocked on the door several times to try and make contact with someone inside but never received a response.

Shirley says deputies were eventually able to make contact with the homeowner who provided deputies with a key to the home, and also gave deputies consent to search the residence for Hodges.

Upon entry, contact was made with 25-year-old Toccoa resident Brianna Jenkins, and later found to have arrest warrants out of Hall County for Forgery.

Deputies searched throughout the residence with no luck; however, after locating an attic door, two deputies entered and located Hodges in the far corner of the small attic crawl space.

He was arrested without incident.

During a search of his person, deputies recovered some suspected heroin.

Both Hodges and Jenkins were transported to the Stephens County Jail.

Upon their arrival to the jail, Jenkins was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana that had been concealed in her undergarments.

She was also found to have a handgun in her purse which had been secured in the deputy’s front seat.

All of the illegal contraband and gun were collected as evidence.

Hodges is charged with possession of heroin, felony fleeing in a motor vehicle and multiple traffic charges from the Toccoa Police Department.

Hodges is also a wanted federal fugitive and has a hold for a federal arrest warrant.

Jenkins was charged with obstruction, crossing guard lines with contraband, possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes.

Both are currently being held without bond on out of county and multiple state holds by the FBI.

They are awaiting a bond hearing on local charges.
