Two arrested after traffic stop by SCSO

Two Toccoa men were arrested following a traffic infraction.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on June 26, at 11:51 p.m., Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division reports the arrest of two individuals after a traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs.

Shirley says K-9 Dexter was summoned to the scene due to the suspicion of illegal narcotics being inside the vehicle.

Dexter and his handler performed a search of the vehicle and gained a positive alert indicating the presence of illegal narcotics.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, a quantity of suspected marijuana, and a set of scales commonly used in the distribution of narcotics.

Both the driver, identified as 42-year-old Matthew Dallas Disspain, and the passenger, identified as 36-year-old Thomas Jerome Hunter, were arrested and each charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession and use of drug related objects.

Both men are currently incarcerated in the Stephens County Jail.
