Tugaloo Bend Heritage Park Launches 2018 Season

Spring has sprung!

With warmer weather comes time for outdoor activities, and at Tugaloo Bend Heritage Park, located on Yonah Dam Road, you can fulfill all your needs for those outdoor happenings.

Tugaloo Bend Heritage Park recently announced the launch of its 2018 season.

This year, Tugaloo Bend now offers kayaks and canoes available to rent.

Come and enjoy the Tugaloo River and all that is to be experienced along this marvelous waterway.

Once a month, generally on the first Saturday of the month, Volunteer Jim Sullivan guides participants through the trails of Tugaloo Bend, discussing the plant and animal life to be found there during the particular season of the year.

On the second Sunday afternoon of each month of the season, musicians congregate at the Elizabeth Hayes pavilion at “the Bend” to play their stringed instruments, or just to listen to music of those who do play.

In celebration of Tourism Week, on May 11, starting at 9 p.m., Sullivan will host a Moth Night, placing lights to attract a myriad of moths, such that participants can enjoy studying these interesting creatures.

Continuing the festivities of Tourism Week, a special music program at the Elizabeth Hayes pavilion on Saturday, May 12, will be held, beginning at 1 p.m.

Also during Tourism Week, rental rates for kayak and cones will be half price.

Throughout the season the park’s walking trails, pavilion and other facilities will be open for the enjoyment of the community.

Tugaloo Bend is open to the public Fridays from 1:30 until 5 p.m.; Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and on Sundays from 1:30 until 5 p.m.

The park regularly hosts family reunions, picnics, corporate gatherings, church group events and has become a popular wedding venue.
