Tribute headlining at Ida Cox this weekend

Main Street Toccoa will continue its Ida Cox Music Series this weekend with a performance by Tribute: a celebration of the Allman Brothers Band.

Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton says this year’s concert series will be a combination of returning and new performers.

Tribute is the headlining act and will take the stage following a performance by opening act Jackson Rogers at 7 p.m.

Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby says this weekend’s Ida Cox concert is being sponsored by Dee Dee Dodd Arrowood at Keller Williams Lanier Partners.

The series is named for Ida Cox, who was born Ida Prather in Toccoa before going off to make her mark in the music world in the first part of the 20th century.

She started as a vaudeville performer and was one of the pioneers of what we now know as the blues.

The series features different musical genres each week – from country to jazz.

The weekly Saturday concerts are free and feature both opening and headlining acts from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Toccoa on Doyle Street between Sage and Pond streets.
