TPH arrest man connected in Family Pride Storage burglary

A Toccoa man was recently arrested after his vehicle, which was used in a recent burglary, was spotted by the Toccoa Police Department.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on March 4, a Toccoa Police Officer recognized a Honda Civic as a vehicle described as a suspect vehicle involved in a burglary at Family Pride Storage.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Bobby Ray Courtney.

While talking with Courtney, the officer observed many new items, tools, tires, and some red bolt cutters in the floorboard.

Courtney admitted to cutting locks off the units and taking items from several units.

During the investigation, a sawed-off shotgun was located in the passenger floorboard along with a bag full of loaded magazines.

Courtney had a pouch of methamphetamine and a glass pipe on his person.

Bobby Ray Courtney, 44, of Toccoa was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of tools for commission of a crime, burglary, two counts of criminal trespassing, possession and use of drug related objects and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He was transported to Stephens County Jail.

Mize adds that more charges are pending on other burglaries connected to Courtney.
