TPD still waiting on results from Crime Lab for body of woman found near train tracks

The Toccoa Police Department is still waiting for results from the crime lab regarding the body of a woman found dead near the railroad tracks on Currahee Street and Highland Avenue.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, they are still waiting for the results.

As WNEG News previously reported, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Toccoa Police Department are investigating the death of 58-year-old Deborah H. Elmore, of Seneca, South Carolina.

There has yet to be a release from the GBI or local authorities of how the woman died.

According to an initial statement released on Friday, June 17, by the Toccoa Police Department, “The Georgia Bureau of Investigations was notified and an Agent as well as a Crime Scene Unit was sent to assist with the investigation. The investigators and Crime Scene Units cleared the scene shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday as the body was transported to the Crime Lab in Decatur. This case is still under investigation and the Toccoa Police Department will update as the investigation allows.”
