TPD, SCSO Vehicles struck during hit-and-run

WNEG News has received confirmation that a Toccoa Police Officer’s patrol car and a Stephens County Sheriff’s Deputy’s patrol car were both involved in a hit-and-run late Sunday afternoon.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, the Police Department was dispatched in regards to the hit-and-run on West Pine Street off of Doyle Street in Toccoa.

He says both the Police Officer and Sheriff’s Deputy were not injured.

Additionally, Toccoa Police were able to stop and arrest the suspect who had fled from the scene.

However, the name of the suspect has yet to be released.

Mize says the Georgia State Patrol is working the accident, and once their investigation is completed the Toccoa Police Department will release the full details.

No other details have been released at this time.
