According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on February 23, officers responded to the call for removal of a person; however, after identifying the suspect as Bryant Mayweather, officers were advised that he had active warrants through Stephens County.

Mize says while officers were searching Mayweather during his arrest, they found Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Xanax and drug related objects on his person.

Bryant Mayweather, 36, of Toccoa was arrested and charged with possession and use of drug related objects, two counts of possession of a schedule I controlled Substance, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

In an unrelated incident, on March 5, the Toccoa Police Department arrested Lafarrien Tate for driving under the influence.

According to Mize, the Toccoa Police Department received a call about a possible DUI driver.

Upon locating the vehicle, they observed the suspect fail to maintain his lane twice and performed a traffic stop.

Tate was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol.

Due to the strong odor of non-burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle, a vehicle search was initiated.

Mize says, officers found plastic bags, a scale with marijuana residue and a can with approximately 10 grams of suspected marijuana.

Tate was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

He was transported to the Stephens County Jail.
