TPD makes several drug arrests after receiving tips from the public

The Toccoa Police Department’s Narcotics Unit has been busy recently.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, the Narcotics Unit has closed several cases involving the sale of drugs in Toccoa.

He says on February 25, the Toccoa Police Department Narcotics Unit and Officers from the Office of Community Supervision went to 124 Stephens Drive in reference to information received from another jurisdiction.

At that location, a search of the residence led to Paula Pope being arrested for Possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with intent to distribute.

Mize says the case is still active and other arrests are expected.

Then on March 1, an anonymous tip from a citizen led to a welfare check of a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle at the end of Queen Street.

Mize says an investigation led to Christopher Duck being arrested for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a schedule I controlled substance.

Then on March 4, the Toccoa Police Department was called to the Toccoa-Stephens County Public Library in reference to suspicious activity.

Upon arrival, officers detained Nicole Ford and Justin Morgan.

Toccoa Police Department’s Narcotics Unit had an active warrant for Ford for possession of methamphetamine and a search of her belongings showed more methamphetamine in her purse.

She received another charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Morgan possessed a box of drugs and items on his person.

Morgan subsequently was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Mize says the Toccoa Police Department is appreciative of the community for its willingness to provide tips via the tip line.
