TPD finds morphine after tip from citizen

A tip from a citizen aided Toccoa Police in discovering morphine, a spoon and two needles.

Last week, Toccoa Police Department’s Interim Police Chief Jimmy Mize told WNEG News that officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen.

The investigation of the vehicle was initially for persons attempting to buy Roxicodone, also known as “Roxies” on the street.

During the stop, officers discovered on the passenger, identified as Joseph Martin Shook, 26, of Eastanollee, a clear baggie containing a quantity of a white substance believed to be Morphine, a spoon and two needles.

Shook was arrested and charged with one count possession of a schedule II controlled substance and tools for the commission of a crime.

According to Mize, without the citizen’s concerns officers would not have been able to remove the illicit substance from the streets of Toccoa.
