TPD arrest 2 following months-long investigation

The Toccoa Police Department has arrested two Toccoa residents.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on April 1, the Toccoa Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at 386 South Pond Street after a months-long investigation.

Mize says the investigation revealed that 41-year-old Brian Lamar Craft and 41-year-old Michelle Annette Chapman, both of Toccoa, were involved in the distribution of Methamphetamine and marijuana from the South Pond Street residence.

The Narcotics Unit with assistance from the Toccoa Police Department’s Patrol Officers and Detectives, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputies and agents from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the FBI’s North Georgia Major Offenders Task Force served the search warrant and arrested both subjects without incident.

A search of the residents uncovered approximately seven ounces of Methamphetamine, four ounces of marijuana, and three handguns.

One of the handguns recovered had been reported stolen from Toccoa prior to the search.

A quantity of cash was also recovered.

Both Chapman and Craft are convicted felons.

As a result of the search warrant, Craft and Chapman were both charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, transactions in drug sales within 1,000 feet of Government housing, and possession of a stolen firearm.

All of the charges are felonies.

Craft was also arrested on an outstanding felony probation warrant.

Mize says the Police Department appreciates the cooperation and assistance provided by the other law enforcement agencies.
