Town of Martin holds Ribbon Tying for new Town Hall

The Town of Martin celebrated its new Town Hall on Sunday with a ribbon tying ceremony, facilitated by the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce.

The Town Hall is now located at 3707 Historic Highway 17, in Martin.

The building that now houses Martin Town Hall was one of the first stores to be built in Martin; however, the original building burnt down, and was rebuilt around 1890.

According to Martin Mayor Don Foster, over the years, the Martin Town Hall building housed several Furniture and Appliances stores, the Bank of Martin, Post Office, Doctor’s Office, funeral home, General Merchandise and the International Order of Oddfellows Hall.

Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Paysen welcomed the large crowd that gathered for the ribbon tying ceremony.

She says the ribbon tying ceremony symbolizes a community surrounding a business, or in this case, a city, in support of the services it provides.
