Today is the final day to register to vote before Presidential Preference Primary

Today is the final day to register to vote in the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary.

To register, you can call the Stephens County Registrar’s Office at 706-886-8954 or online by going to the Secretary of State’s website at sos.ga.gov.

Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober says if you haven’t voted in the last two elections then you’ve been removed from the voter rolls and are no longer registered to vote; however, you have until 5 p.m. today, to re-register.

Recently, Gober announced that 766 inactive voters were purged from the Stephens County voter rolls, so, if you are unsure of your registration status, she says you can call her office to confirm.

Again, today is the final day to register to vote for the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary.

Also, this week at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office, election staff will be holding public demonstrations of the new voting machines.

Stephens County Deputy Registrar April Roberts says those demonstrations will run, this week only, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; additional demonstrations will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Robert says the demonstrations allow voters to become familiar with the new machines prior to the election.

Roberts adds that no appointment is necessary to attend the demonstration, she says just come to the Registrar’s Office during those times to receive a closer, step-by-step demonstration of the new voting machines.

For questions regarding voter registration or the new voting machines contact Gober by calling 706-886-8954.
