Toccoa’s Grand Marshal-Coan Not Slowing Down

Saturday’s Christmas parade in Downtown Toccoa was a success. Sponsored by the Professional Women of Toccoa-Stephens County, the parade was held on Saturday morning this year with 57 entries participating.

Paralympic swimming champion and multi-medalist McKenzie Coan was the Grand Marshal and told WNEG her plans for the future. “I’ll be starting Law School at Rutgers in August of next year so I’m very excited to get that going and still swimming full-time.”

Coan says that she really does not like to slow down. “I like to juggle a lot of things. I never like to be bored so this keeps things interesting.”

Coan recently authored a book and has had two book signings in Downtown Toccoa. “I have been at Troups a couple of times. My book Breaking Free-I actually wrote it over the course of the pandemic and going into games, so it was really an incredible reflective process to be able to do that.”

Coan’s book is available at Troup’s Hallmark on East Doyle Street in Toccoa.
