Toccoa Woman Dies from Hit and Run

An apparent hit and run leaves a Toccoa woman dead.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that on Monday night at approximately 11:55 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on North Red Rock Road.

Upon arrival Deputies found a white female later identified as Hannah McFall age 18 of Toccoa, lying in the roadway. The vehicle involved was not initially located and appeared to have left the scene. Due to the severity of the accident, Deputies contacted Georgia State Patrol to assist them in the crash investigation. McFall was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stephens County Coroner.

According to the Sheriff’s office after following up on several leads, Deputies were able to locate the suspects’ vehicle on Cardinal Lane in Toccoa early Tuesday morning. The suspect, who is not being identified at this time, was interviewed by the Georgia State Patrol and released as of last report.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley told WNEG News “This is a very tragic incident that has impacted the lives of everyone who knew the victim, the Sheriff’s Office extends their deepest sympathies to the family and ask that everyone remember them in your prayers”.

The investigation is ongoing and any potential charges will be taken by the State Patrol.
