Toccoa woman arrested after traffic stop
The Toccoa Police Department arrested a Toccoa woman following a traffic stop.
According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, on May 22, at approximately 1:29 p.m., a Toccoa Police Officer was on patrol on S. Broad Street when he witnessed a black BMW turn into the center turning lane traveling at a high rate of speed.
Mize says, the officer then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The driver was identified as 20-year-old Kara Kirkland, of Toccoa.
As the officer was speaking to Kirkland, Kirkland threw a small plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance at him.
Kirkland was placed under arrest for possession of a schedule I controlled substance, aggressive driving, and improper use of the central lane.
Kirkland was taken to the Stephens County Jail where she was turned over to jail staff.
