Toccoa woman arrested after domestic disturbance

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Toccoa woman after a domestic disturbance call.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on April 14, at 7:00 a.m., deputies responded to Tony’s General Store on Highway 123 regarding a domestic disturbance; upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle in the parking lot occupied by a female sitting in the driver’s seat.

Shirley says the deputies approached the vehicle and identified themselves. They obtained identification from the female driver and conducted a records check.

The check showed that the female had an active arrest warrant for simple assault under the Family Violence Act.

Deputies arrested the driver of the vehicle on the active warrant.

K-9 Unit Dexter was on scene and was deployed. Dexter alerted on the vehicle close to the driver side. A subsequent search of the vehicle by deputies uncovered packages of marijuana, as well as methamphetamines.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Misty Gail Pophom, of Toccoa, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects, and simple assault under the family violence act.

Pophom posted a $37,000 bond on April 16.
