Toccoa Student Wins Open Mic Night Grand Finale

Krystin Littleton took home the top price in Monday’s Open Mic Grand Finale

A Toccoa resident and student at North Georgia Tech is the grand finale winner of the second annual Open Mic Monday contest at the Ritz Theatre.

Ritz Theatre General Manager Danita Gaudette said December winner Krystina Littleton won the grand prize.

Littleton sang two songs for her finale performance, “Don’t Hide” by Billie Eilish and “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato.

LIttleton won a slot to perform at this summer’s Ida Cox Music Series.

The four finalists in the Grand Finale competition were the monthly winners of the Open Mic Mondays from September through December.

In addition to Littleton, they included Garrett Lott who won in September, the October winner Jim Harrison and Zikerion Reese who took the November prize.

Each performer brought their own style and interpretation to their diverse performances, but Gaudette said in the end, Littleton was declared the winner by the three judges, bluegrass artist Edgar Loudermilk, WNEG morning deejay Connie Gaines, and former music minister at Toccoa First Baptist Church Chris Watkins.

Gaudette said the third annual Open Mic Monday will return in September for aspiring musicians who would like to compete.
