Toccoa-Stephens County to Observe The National Day of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer and as happens every year, people will be gathering on the lawn of the Historic Stephens County Courthouse later this morning to pray for our Country and its leaders.

This year’s theme is Unity and is based on Ephesians 4:3 in which Paul the Apostle admonishes us to, “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

People are encouraged to pray today for America in two main areas:

First, for leaders in America to come together to provide strategic leadership that will result in righteousness and peaceful living.

And second, to pray for unity in the Body of Christ in America.

The National Day of Prayer was created 66 years ago in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer.

Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.

And if you are unable to attend the live service today you can listen live.

WNEG will have live coverage of today’s National Day of Prayer Service beginning at noon.

You can also watch the live National Day of Prayer event in Washington, DC tonight from 7:30p to 9p via live streaming on nationaldayofprayer.org, or on GodTV or DayStar TV.
