Bryan Tatterson, Toccoa Salvation Army Commander Passes Away, Funeral Friday

Funeral services are set for Friday in Beaufort, South Carolina for the Commander of the Toccoa Salvation Army.

Major Bryan Tatterson was found deceased in his vehicle on Oak Valley Road on Saturday, according to authorities.

A cause of death has not been released.

Originally from Fairmount, West Virginia, Tatterson initially served as a U.S. Army Infantryman and later as a member of the elite “Old Guard,” guarding and escorting Presidential and Vice Presidential parties and guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the rank of Sargent.

In 1990, he and his wife Marie entered The Salvation Army Training College in Atlanta and were commissioned two years later with the Followers of Jesus session.

They served as Salvation Army Officers in Maryland, West Virginia, Texas, North and South Carolina and Georgia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday at 10:00a at The Salvation Army in Beaufort, South Carolina.

The family will receive friends at The Salvation Army in Beaufort from 9:00a Friday until the service time.

Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Major Bryan Keith Tatterson.

Major Tatterson was 52.
